Sara Hanlon

It has been said that: if as an artist you are concerned with formalism, you are a modernist, if you are concerned with irony, you are a post-modernist. According to this definition, I'm a modernist working in a postmodern period.

My main concern as a painter is the manipulation of the formal elements of the picture plane i.e. the visual elements of color, shape, composition, line, value and scale. However, it should be borne in mind that form and content are inevitably complementary aspects of any work.

My oeuvre crosses the continuum from realism to abstraction, and my goal is to delight the eye with work that has both aesthetic and content validity, and a little humor throw in for good measure.
